Aujourd’hui en toc

Et voilà encore un sujet où j’ai dû consulté mon dictionnaire (ambulante)…I wonder how wide my vocabulary gap is between French and English.

A short news item on Syria this morning – professionally significant though. Kellenberger, President of ICRC, in Moscow to get the Russian government to press Assad to grant a two-hour daily slot for delivery ofhumanitarian assistance. Significant that the ICRC publicised the meeting. Significant that by the evening Russia was reported as having taken up the issue. Significant if it allows some assistance and protection to be afforded to the Syrian people. Significant as it highlights the inconsistency of international response to humanitarian “intervention” (remember this was the justification for air-attacks in Libya).

Et “en toc”? “Responsibility to Protect” = a sham, “international community” response = a shambles.
