Aujourd’hui contre le mur

April 9, 2012 § Leave a comment

Poor Marie-Antoinette, stuck in court, no where to go, second on the list of heads to be chopped, and only the Comptess and her little reading-maid for consolation. Eleven o’clock showing on a grey public-transport strike holiday morning, but somehow ‘Les Adieux à la Reine’ left a not quite satisfied feeling.  Maybe it was the absence of the infamous “Let them eat cake” sound-bite (cake = brioche en version originale) or the focus on embroided flowers rather than barricades? More rolling eyes than rolling heads.
